A CITIZEN’S DIGITAL TOOLKIT:
The June 24th live production of The Investigation: A Search for the Truth in Ten Acts was the beginning of this movement — we are counting on citizens like you to recreate this extraordinary play - taken directly from the Mueller Report - in your community to bring the Mueller Report to life
A Note from the Writer
Pulitzer Prize Winning Writer Robert Schenkkan
Your production can be as modest or extravagant as you like, depending on your budget and your taste. It’s the words that matter.
There are 28 speaking parts in the play. In NY, our reading used 18 actors which meant that some actors read 2-4 parts. Doubling/Tripling etc is fine. 9 actors would probably be a minimum but there are many ways to proceed. Just figure out what works for you.
However, I would strongly suggest that the Narrator, Trump, and Mueller, not be doubled. Each part should be played by one actor who does not play any other roles.
Diversity is a good thing! Don’t feel like you must cast people who look like their character or even share their character’s race or ethnicity. This could be an all-female cast. An all POC cast. Whatever. Cast the best performers you can.
If you cannot manage the projections then simply do without, or have the actors hold signs or hold up their laptops. Feel free to discover your own solutions.
Book in hand is best, reading from the script; it is not necessary to memorize lines.
Actors should face front and read to the audience, only occasionally acknowledging their scene partner unless specifically directed otherwise in the text.
There is a lot of humor inherent in the text. Don’t be afraid of it.
You will notice the dialogue consists both of narrative lines (“Character A entered the office”) as well as dialogue (indicated within quotation marks). Dialogue gets a little more emotional weight, but narrative shouldn’t necessarily be dry. A quick look at the NY reading online (to be found at #theinvestigation on youtube) which show you how simple this is and how well it works.
Above all, speak the lines clearly and play your character’s actions and intentions. Don’t feel you have to “do” an imitation of Comey or Sessions or anyone.
Approximately 70+ minutes without an intermission

It shows that President Trump likely obstructed justice and that President Trump’s campaign not only knew Russia wanted them to win, but welcomed it.
